The PSJA ISD Fine Arts Department will present the 2nd annual PSJA ISD
Tri-City Honor Band Concert at 7:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 28th, at
the PSJA ISD Auditorium located at 1229 South “I” Road on the San
Juan Middle School campus. Please see the attached flyer.

The concert will feature the PSJA ISD Tri-City Middle School Honor
Band and the PSJA ISD Tri-City High School Honor Band performing a
variety of band music including classic marches and latin favorites.
The members of this band are selected through competitive audition and
represent the most accomplished PSJA ISD band students.

Guest conductors for the evening will be PSJA High School Band
alumnus, Mr. Wilberto Perez, Director of Bands, San Benito ISD and Mr.
Armando Robledo, Director of Bands, Donna ISD.

The public is cordially invited to attend; admission is free. Please

TEXAS HISTORICAL COMMISSION OFFERS
FREE WORLD WAR II ORAL HISTORY TRAINING

SOUTH PADRE ISLAND, Texas––The Texas Historical Commission (THC), in conjunction with the South Padre Island Historical Preservation Commission, will co-host a free oral history training workshop and statewide site survey meeting at the Paragraphs bookstore in the City of South Padre Island on Thursday, January 19, from 5 – 8 p.m. The workshop is one of a series taking place across the state, which highlights the real places telling the real stories of Texas’ involvement in the war effort. Funding for the workshop is provided by the Summerlee Foundation of Dallas and is designed for people to learn how to conduct and record oral histories pertaining to World War II.

BACKGROUND: The workshops, titled Here and There: Recollections of Texas in World War II, are part of the THC’s Texas in World War II initiative. The program honors and preserves the memories of Texans who served in the armed forces during World War II and the contributions they made to the war effort. Historical markers, a commemorative brochure, and a military/home front sites survey are part of this program that enriches lives through history. The South Padre Island workshop will be held in observance of the 70th anniversary of the United States’ first full year at war during World War II.
